I would like to see take action on unruly parents. I witnessed a parent on an opposing team sit behind the goal and proceed to yell throughout the game. This parent yelled at their child/team and it was embarrassing and it had to effect how their team played. This parent yelled things like, "Get your fingers out of your mouth", seems harmless but this was very loud and it was almost a scream. She also yelled at players and criticized their speed and field placement. At one point a player yelled back for her to stop. This was the most extreme case I've ever witnessed. I would have liked for the refs to have done something, by not saying anything to her, it reinforces that it is ok to behave this way. A ref could have even gone to the coach if afraid of a confrontation. At minimum we need refs to protect these players and just let them play.
I had a less pleasant experience this year. I will not be bringing my girls back next season. During game 1, the opposing teams wife brought multiple lawn chairs and children through our bench area. Twice hitting my girls with a chair. Then she brought her 3sih year old son over to our bench, sat him down on the sideline in the only place that I could stand as a coach. She then spent 7 minutes removing his shoes, and fixing his socks and playing. At my bench. She would not move and the ref would not help. I found that frustrating to say the least. Game 2: Corner kick by the other team. Their player kicks the ball in toward the goal, and at the same time, I group of kids playing pickup soccer behind the goal kick a ball onto the pitch. The same exact ball as we were using to play. Their team kicks the NON game ball into the goal. Ref counts the goal. Said the additional ball did not have any effect on the play. We lost that game 3/2. It should have been a tie or at least a re kick of the corner kick. Game 3: The opposing team parents from the Arkansas team were cursing at my girls, and parents were calling them ugly and taunting. Pretty messed up if I do say so myself. It was very frustrating and disappointing. I am not sure where you found your referee staff, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. We will not be back next year. Coach Holaday 2016 girls Gunners
There needs to be more than one entrance and exit from the parking lot. Also, the hotels should have enough rooms for an entire team to stay at the same location.
2 of our 3 games had refs that did not have control of the game resulting in a red card (for the opposing team due to flagrant/dangerous play in game 1 )and a broken arm for our player in game 2. Both were preventable. Refs engaged in heated conversations and were unprofessional. I saw more red cards handed out in one weekend than I have in multiple soccer seasons combined which is unacceptable and speaks to the inability to manage the game. I would not return due to the lack of game management and the risk of injury for our team/players.
